Privacy in the Bell Participant beta

BellBots Pty Ltd · Updated 12 October 2026

Bell Participant is a beta for participants and their chosen support connections. Please use fictional information and sample files during this pilot. Home controls are simulated; the app is not connected to physical home devices. Enabled calling accounts can place real telephone calls through Bell after a reviewed request. Bell is not an emergency service.

Your account and saved records

Saved appointments, shopping lists, maintenance requests, messages, attachments and preferences are stored with your Bell Participant account using Base44. Your saved records synchronise across signed-in devices, including Safari and the iPhone app. Closing or uninstalling the app does not delete these account records.

Unfinished conversation recovery information may also be kept locally on your device so you can continue a request after an interruption. Typed message drafts are kept in memory while you move between app sections; they are not sent until you choose Send and may be lost if you close or reload the app.

Sign-in and sharing

Email registration, password sign-in and email verification are handled by Base44. Your signed-in account determines which participant or organisation workspace you can open. Participants choose which providers and staff to connect with and what to share. Messages addressed to a person within a team conversation remain visible to the authorised team; they are not private direct messages.

Disconnecting a provider removes its current access to your workspace. Your saved records remain with your account; copies previously downloaded by a recipient cannot be recalled. BellBots operators manage account onboarding and access. Apple reviewers receive separate access to fictional review records.

When you talk or type to Bell

Bell sends your request, relevant account details and recent conversation context to OpenAI to understand your request. During live voice, your microphone audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription and spoken replies. The app does not intentionally record audio into your saved account records. The OpenAI text request is configured with response storage disabled; this does not mean that external providers never retain service or security records. Their handling is subject to their applicable policies and service terms.

Tap End voice, say “stop listening”, or leave the app to stop the live microphone session. You can use typed requests instead. Bell asks for confirmation before saving a proposed change.

Calls and finding places

Where calling is enabled, Bell uses Twilio for the telephone connection, OpenAI for the live voice conversation and a gateway hosted on Fly.io. The call uses the recipient’s phone number, your reviewed request and the information you choose to share. Audio is processed to conduct the call. The gateway does not create audio recordings; call status, outcomes and diagnostic information are stored to show the result and troubleshoot problems. Service providers may keep their own operational records under their terms. The pilot call route may process information outside Australia; a local caller number does not mean all processing stays in Australia.

Finding places sends your search and requested area to OpenAI’s web search. Public business listings do not guarantee availability or suitability. Review the recipient and request before starting a call.

Weather, testing and feedback

Weather lookups send the requested location and date to WeatherAPI. Apple and Expo process information needed to distribute and operate the beta. Feedback that you choose to send through TestFlight is handled by Apple and made available to the developer; feedback email is sent to BellBots. Do not include private care information in screenshots or feedback.

Your choices and questions

You can stop voice, sign out, change sharing in People & access, disconnect services or stop testing. To ask about your beta account, request removal of your beta access or account information, or ask a privacy question, contact info@bellbots.com. Signing out does not delete your account or its saved records.

Account operations and usage counts

BellBots authorised staff can review registration details, account roles, invitations and connection status. We record the email and approximate last-seen time for signed-in app and web use to show account usage counts. These records do not include conversation content, precise location, IP addresses or device identifiers. App usage counts are not download counts. Command-centre staff use role-based access; internal team messages and manually entered revenue records are stored separately from participant records.
